On Feb. 10, Dej Loaf and Jacquees teamed up for “Deeper.” Now, they deliver an entire collaborative mixtape, titled Fuck a Friend Zone.
The “Try Me” artist and the Cash Money crooner put their chemistry on display for this 13-track project, which contains production from Nash B, Caine, Andrew Lloyd, Murphy Kid, DJ Spinz, iRocksays and more. You can stream Fuck a Friend Zone below courtesy of AudioMack.
On the mixtape’s opener, Jacquees touches on how he initially got in touch with the Detroit MC. “I took a shot, I wanted to meet Dej,” he sings. “Took a picture, put it on my page/On Instagram/I think she feeling me and my wave.”
Dej seems to respond to Jacquees’ lines, “Goddamn, it’s amazin’/Dreads were so long and you had braces/I know you heard the rumors, talkin’ like I’m taken/But it ain’t nothing that can’t be replaced.”
Jacquees has been hard at work. Just under three weeks ago, the 22-year-old Atlanta native dropped a solo mixtape, Since You Playin.’ The 12-track project contains features from Birdman, Quavo, Ty Dolla $ign, Tory Lanez and more, with production from Nash B, Murphy Kid and Beezo.
XXL spoke with Jacquees for The Come Up in 2016. “I feel like I got that classic sound, that feel good sound that everybody miss,” Jacquees says. “The R&B that you cut on that make you want to pick up your old lady. I feel like I got that type of R&B that makes you smile. You want to go on a one-on-one date, you not trying to have a bunch of women around. But I got music that makes you feel playa too. That make you feel like a G.”
